Interview with Basic Feelings: The Journey of a Passionate Brussels Electronic Music Artist
For this new episode of Sessions Sonores, we had the pleasure of meeting Basic Feelings, a DJ and producer deeply rooted in Brussels’ underground electronic scene. A discreet yet respected figure, he shares his journey, inspirations, and vision of electronic culture with us.
Starting out in the free party scene, Basic Feelings looks back on his early days, shaped by human and musical encounters that led to the creation of l’uZinne a project that has become a staple of the local scene. This interview also delves into his evolution with the Optimal Bass organization, which saw him perform at iconic venues like l’UMI, as well as his collaborations with the Collectif Méta.
From a technical standpoint, Basic Feelings is known for his 3-deck vinyl mixes—a demanding and impressive technique he explains in detail. But mixing isn’t his only focus: he also shares his passion for hybrid live sets, blending machines and turntables, recently showcased during Meta Tempora.
Between performing at C12 upcoming dates at UMI, and his plans to expand beyond Brussels, the artist also shares his insights on the connection between free parties, collectives, and larger event promoters—an ecosystem he sees as essential and complementary.
The interview concludes with a glimpse into his future projects, hinting at exciting developments to come.
